We Never Learn

Morse,Perry

Let's smile coyly with our friends
and act like we will never end.
	We seem annointed from above.
But I stand above you in the bed,
	and you'd rather dominate instead
in this power game called love.

	I won't make another day
if I have to live this way.
I can't stand the way we both begin to lie.
We wrote out our own script,
but now the shoes don't fit,
so we ignore the Emperor's new clothes.
We never learn. We never learn.
We never learn from our mistakes.

We think too much, we never act.
We analyze from fact to fact.
I can read you like a book.
I tell you all about my dreams
where you're more real than you seem,
and I'm just afraid to look.

So let's whitewash all our sins,
	and pretend we've always been
	nothing more than bitter friends
in a cycle that never ends.

	What's so fascinating
	about resuscitating
this limp and dying lifeless pair?
We keep on crashing into walls.
We look back, see nothing at all.
	Let's pretend there's nothing there.
