Love and War

Morse

        I remember a moment I lived through a time,
it was in seventy-eight or maybe seventy-nine,
when I believed that love was a two way street.
The only way to touch was to crash and meet.

Don't lie to me baby, it'll be alright.
Sex, love, or money; I'll put up a fight for
you or for them. It's as simple as that.
I may change my mind at the drop of a hat. Because...

All's fair in love and war.
        I've been this way before.
You'll cheat here and I'll cheat there.
We'll pretend that we both care.

        I'm a casualty of love.
I can't seem to rise above
the wound inflicted by your casual goodbye.
All's fair in love and war.

So pick up a gun and I'll shoot off my mouth.
You be the blue of the north, I'll be the grey of the south.
Divide off our bed into our battleground.
We'll bleed and we'll die without making a sound.

Don't lie to me baby, don't try to be blind,
that our love is just one of a kind.
All the treaties and truces and pacts that we've signed,
I hope you don't care if I'm changing my mind. Because...

So take a position and stand by your cause.
Your baby's not armed for breaking the laws
that she wrote while in pain from the last battle fought.
There are no survivors from the ones that she caught.

Well I want a world bereft of the games,
where losers are winners and the winners are sane,
where I can see you and you can see me.
The only stories told are the ones we believe. Like...
