Wise Monkey Orchestra reminds me of the Spin Doctors a little bit. They have a catchy groove and a lot of talent, but not a lot of variation in their song writing. Don't take this wrong, I loved their set and I was right down there near the front bopping along. I'll probably go see them again, first chance I get, but I can just see where I could burn out on them pretty quick. Perhaps it was just that the songs they chose to play that night were all fairly similar. I'll have to watch `em a few more times to find out. :-)Their lead vocalist, trombone player, guitarist, and drummer were all outstanding performers, while the bassist and keyboard players were more steady in keeping the groove. My only real gripe was that we barely got to see the lead guitarist (Scott), as he was parked behind the trombone player (Andy) for the whole gig, even when he was ripping out a scorching lead. I'm sure that's just a matter of "big band - small stage". Enjoy the pictures |
