For their second Old Towne Pub gig, The Negro Problem had Adam Marsland on keyboards, so they had more of a pop feel than when Mark Doten played with them in June. Other than that slight shift in feel, it was just another stellar crowd pleasin' set (well, 4 sets actually) by TNP.I stayed for the first two sets, then left to go see Spooky Pie. The first set was just the trio of Stew, Heidi, and Josh, and they played long extended versions of Witch and Peter Jennings, along with a couple of other songs. The really cool thing about that is that it's a test of how well the songs and the band carry on their own weight without all the extra musicians and vocalists. Both band and songs passed the test with flying colors. I coulda watched the trio all night, though I admittedly love all the extras as well. Enjoy the pix - |
