Sparklejets UK at the Sparklejets Y2K Party

You can catch the Sparklejets UK next at Chain Reaction in Anaheim on January 15, then on Thursday, January 20 at Highland Grounds (with my band - the Liberal Materialists - opening!!!).

This was the first time I've seen the Sparklejets, though I have their CD so I knew all the songs they played. They fully rocked and played almost exclusively the audience's requests (well mostly Lisa & Heatherton's requests :-). The biggest responses seemed to be for Haircut Girl (which all the dancing pix are from) and 10 Inches, on which Lisa Mychols helped fortify Susan's vocals since she was losing her voice.

It didn't take long for me to figure out both the benefits and limitations of seeing a gig in a small room. It was extremely intmate, and there was more interaction between the audience (mostly musicians themselves) and the band than at most club gigs. For taking pictures it was kind hard. I had a great angle for taking shots of Michael, but Susan is hidden behind a microphone in most of my pictures, and of course, it's nigh impossible to get a shot of the whole band in those close quarters (just wait'll my wide angle lens arrives, then I'll show ya' :-).
