When Ultimate Fakebook started their set, I was still out in the lobby of the Troubador chatting, but I could hear that they were mighty loud. After a day full of music, I was reluctant to go brave the decibels, but I put in the earplugs and sallied forth (or fifth) into the concert hall. I'm glad I did.Ultimate Fakebook, like Magnified at the Spaceland Poptopia set, was harder edged than most of the other bands that were playing, but played an electified high-energy set of catchy rock. The crowd was pretty dense by this time, so I could only get close to the stage at one place. Thus the pictures are pretty one dimensional, but the music certainly wasn't. If you get a chance to see Ultimate Fakebook, I'd definitely recommend you check `em out. |
