The Piper Downs at Crooked Bar

I got to Crooked Bar as the PDs were starting their
set. It was like a Tom Jones show, the audience were all
women and they were screaming enthusiastically after every
number. How do the PDs do it? Is there a formula? They
should market it, they'd make millions: Piper Downs
Rock Juice. No wait, it would sound better if it was
French: Les Piper Downs Eau de Roque. :-)
The Piper Downs played as a trio, which is good since the stage at Crooked Bar is pretty small. They also played acoustic, but all that means is that Bobby was playing an acoustic guitar instead of eletric... it wasn't "unplugged" and they didn't load the show up with "sensitive new age male" stuff, they still rocked. In fact when I walked in they were just starting Ten Speed. I think this band has a very different chemistry when Garner plays drums, though it does kinda bury him in the back. I saw about 45 minutes of their set, and left to go catch the Andersons, but they played an extra long gig. I figger at the end of the set the women in the audience would be worked into such a frenzy that they would rush the stage and rip off all the PDs clothes, and chaos would ensue.
