Sometimes opening bands are just an opportunity to schmooze with my friends at the club, but Michael Shelly was entertaining enough that I stayed and watched his whole set. Someone asked me to describe his style of music, and the best I could come up with was "middle-of-the-road pop-rock". I know that's kinda generic, but there wasn't any major bias towards grunge or roots-rock or any sub-genre that I could easily find.Mike Randall and Daddy-O from Baby Lemonade backed him up for this set, and they sounded like they had been playing together for years. They made an excellent appetizer for the two main courses to follow. |
