Bobby Bognar got real emotional while he was introducing Michael
Denvir's set, and told how much he was moved by his music.
Accompanied by Jason Rarick on percussion and Garner Knutson (also
of the Piper Downs) on Bass, Michael delivered on Bobby's promise
with an inspired set of gritty folk.
Apparently most of Michael's songs need a Parental Discretion warning on them, but since there were several children at Pinot for his set, he stuck to mostly tamer songs, or at least songs that alluded to sex without directly using any 4-letter words. Besides the excellent vocals, songwriting, and lyrics, Michael has one of the best sounding guitars I've ever heard. I asked him about it afterwards and he said it was hand made by his brother. I think they said Michael & the Ideal Chairs have a regular gig on Thursdays at the Crooked Bar (downstairs of the Coconut Teaser). Check `em out, I know you'll like `em. |
