WOO WOO! The Masticators throw a great party. (okay, so technically
the Bostick's throw a great party for the Masticators :-). For their CD
release party, the Masticators had the Piper Downs, The Sparkle*Jets U.K.,
Bat Country, Willie Wisely, and a comic join them in entertaing a large
crowd at the Bostick's house in the Tustin hills. All said performances
were super-fine, except for the comedian, who was just playing to the
wrong crowd, and you could see him twitching on the patio. I'm sure given
the right crowd imbibing in enough alcoholic beverages, he would kill, but
he was kinda hurting in this environment.
The Masticators played a good set of their hits, plus one new song which was very well received, and a cover of My Girl (the Madness song, not the Temptations song) that Robbie sang lead on. At the end of their set, Wayne Resnick's show came on KFI, where he gave a shout out to the crowd at the party and played a song of his about Robbie and Lisa, and Radio Police from the CD (which the Masitcators and several other people mugged to on stage). Many thanks to Lisa and Bill and Marilyn and all the bands and Brian Honda's buddy who did the sound, and everybody else who helped make this the coolest party to hit OC since Disneyland's 40th birthday. |
