John Doe at the Getty Center

Bel Air - July 2, 1999

Okay, so they wouldn't let me take any pictures during the show. But this show was very cool anyway. It was John Doe solo with an acoustic guitar doing all love songs (see setlist below). It was sorta like the spirit of Joni Mitchell posses John Doe for a gig. He played lots of dark love songs, about a third of which I'd never heard before. There was also lots of interaction with the audience. Very enjoyable show (and early enough that I was able to make another gig the same night :-).

I also love the space, and they did let me take some pictures of it before the gig, so they're below.

Setlist from the program - he played most of these, but since I don't know all of the songs, I'm not sure which all ones he didn't play. I've marked ones that I specifically know he didn't play.
