These guys were a bit more rock than Matt Bruno, and a lot of fun. Their
Drummer was stellar, he just flat out cooked. The songs were fun, sorta
Weezerish, but a bit more innovative than them. Being a keyboard player, I
was digging on the keyboards their keyboardist used. He had an electric piano,
a farfisa organ stacked on that, and then a Univox analog synth on top for
the occasional new-wavey touch. Very nice setup. The lead singer only played
one lead solo, but it was one of the highlights of the set.
Another highlight was the cover they did of Joe Jackson's It's Different for Girls. I sorta cringed when he said "wo wo wo she said, don't you know it's different for girls" instead of "no not love she said, don't you know it's different for girls" (is there a hyphen in anal-retentive), but it was a cool cover anyway. It was mostly their own arrangement, but it ducked to the original once or twice. They didn't have CDs, but they do have a web site. |
