What a difference a sound system makes. A week earlier I saw GGC open for the Motels at the Voodoo lounge, with their patented doodoo sound system. You couldn't understand half of what Karen and Mary Lynn were saying, and the crowd was just kinda blase about them. At the Roxy, the sound was crystal clear. You could hear everything they were saying even when both of them were talking (which is usually the case), and they slew the audience. A couple of new twists added to the merriment. First of all, they were playing electric guitars (which they commented on extensively in the theme song -- see the notes below). Also, some guy in the audience gave them a drink and kept talking back to them during the show, so they kept referring to him as Jason (the title/subject of one of their songs). So now I just want to go to their thrift store and have these two sexy bitches tell me to "get out". :-) Enjoy the pix -
