This gig was a release party for Indian Transvestite.
The Fire Ants were giving out copies of this four-song CD and
books of prose by Skie to accompany it. Sadly, their set was
marred by technical troubles, as Skie's bass went out several
times. They forged on through several songs, including what
I think is the hit of the CD, Stella, but the instrument
troubles haunted them throughout the set. The packed Gypsy
Lounge crowd seemed to enjoy the set, and was perhaps less
disturbed by the technical problems than the band was.
The CD, by the way, is excellent (no technical difficulties there :-). I've been listening to it at work and it's really dark and magical. Definitely check it out. Enjoy the pix - |
