The Fireants played an inspired set at the KB Club, including a new song
called Skin, which was very cool, and my favorite from the
Coping Mechanism album, Congratulations. There was a
good sized crowd, though they mostly stayed toward the back of the
room. If I hadn't found a cocktail napkin to use as impromptu earplugs,
I would have hung to the back of the room as well, as it was plenty loud.
The KB Club is a mixed blessing in terms of photography. They have a good lighting system, and they light the artists well, in several shades no less. The one downer is that they have a smoke machine and a heavy hand in using it. Not only does this make a bunch of the pictures hazy, but I left the club congested as all get out. [Ligthing/sound people take note: singers need to breathe. A little bit of smoke is ok for effect; a lot of smoke in a small club sucks] (rant mode off). I did a kind of unusual split of the pictures. I took more pictures of Skie than of the whole band, so I split those off into a separate page (see the link above). Enjoy the pix - |
