Ferdinand played a smooth set as a warmup to their big gig the next night at Kevin O'Connor's birthday party. I think this is the first time I've seen them play when Greg didn't break a string. It dawned on me when they started into Sad Eyes from Van Nuys and he was still playing the Telecaster.If it weren't for the smoke machine, The KB Club would be one of my favorite places to see bands. They've added some new lights, but haven't focused them properly yet, so they were hitting Greg right in the legs instead of the face. Even so, they're better lit and more creative with the lighting than most clubs. The sound is good too, though leaning toward ear-bleeding volume. Enjoy the pix - |
