Barbara Ann's starting to build some momentum. When I got to the Opium Den,
it wasn't open yet, and there were people lined up at the door waiting to
get in. There were more people at this gig than the last time I saw her
play the Opium Den, and she gave `em what they came to see. I was pretty
amused when she introduced Mike as Mike9, a name she got from my
airborne shot of him at the Troubador.
The lighting at this show was really weird. At first there were only a couple of lights at the back of the stage, and nothing lighting the band from the front. Finally, Barbara Ann asked the lighting guy for some lights, so he flipped through a couple of light settings and settled on one that brightly lit her legs and left her face mostly in the dark. That improved the focus on the flash shots, but the non-flash shots came out badly washed out on the lower half and somewhat under-exposed on the upper half. I got another airborne shot of Mike9, but once again missed Barbara Ann jumping at the end of the gig. Maybe next time. Enjoy the pix - |
