Since it was a weeknight, the crowd thinned a bit after The Negro
Problem played. The Andersons quickly drew in the remaining crowd
and got them to do the hokey pokey (well, actually most of the
hokey pokeying was going on on-stage). Good choice, as the Macarena
or the Chicken Dance would have just driven the rest of the crowd
home in shame.
With the audience now rapt and pressed against the stage, the Andersons played a nice set of their regular fare (i.e. riveting pop rock songs & debased and irreverent humor), with guest appearances by long-lost cousins Severo Anderson and Mark Anderstew who each took over Bob's guitar for parts of a song, including a scorching lead solo by Severo. I thought Bob was just loafing off, but then he took over Derrick's bass while Stew was playing his guitar. Also, Bob wrote a song for the closing of Jack's. After much cajoling by the audience (including myself), they even played an encore of My Life Still Sucks to close out their last set at Jack's. Enjoy the pix - |
