As with the last few shows at DiPiazza's, Sabrina worked the crowd as much as she could, and as you can see from the Sabrina&crowd pictures, she really had their attention. An encouraging side note is that everyone is looking at Sabrina & nobody's glaring at me, so I guess my abundant photos must not have been too much of a distraction. Sabrina also did more acrobatics than Mary Lou Retton in this show. The Russian judge only gave her a 9.3, but Dave & Laura complained to the judges, so they gave her a gold medal anyway. To balance out all the wild antics in the crowd, the band played Fear of a Boy and a new ballad that I don't know the name of. Both were very well received of course. The advantage of the new camera was apparent in several situations. First of all, it did a better job of focusing on Sabrina when she was out in the low-light audience area. It did a nice job on the moody no-flash photos like Sabrina1930 & 3gt_1700. It was also much faster than the Coolpix at re-focusing on different things (e.g. I was able to shoot Sabrina in the audience, & then quickly zoom into Dave screaming into his pickups & the camera focused in less than a second). The one hitch is the flash, which is still over-flashing sometimes (thus the large number of tweaked images here). Enjoy the pix - |
