Okay, so technically this gig was billed as happening on December 30, 2000. But first the lab had South Bay Surfers play a [way way too] long set, and then they had some DJ play a bunch of crap leading up to midnight, so by the time they actually let the Teacher play, it was a new millenium. Personally, I'd have preferred to eschew the SBS set entirely and have extended sets by 3GT and the Centimeters. Third Grade Teacher played an inspired set to usher in the new millenium with style, though most of the laid back crowd seemed to think they were too cool for school. The set on the 30th at Club Mesa was much better appreciated. This was certainly one of their most documented sets, as there were no less than 3 video cameras shooting the set in addition to people shooting stills (like myself). And of course, with the band dressed up in fancy new-millenium vogue, there was plenty of good picture shootin' to be done. :-) Enjoy -
