And the barrage of OVER 100 Third Grade Teacher pix hits. The lighting at the Troubadour is second to none, so I just shot away for the whole set, and they played a fairly long set. I was crammed up against the stage by the crowd pressing in on the stage in advance for Weezer, so there's little varitey of angle, but some of them look remarkably cool. I split the pictures into several pages to make the load times even marginally reasonable. I didn't take all of these shots. Steve Cormack gets picture credits for 3gt_817, 3gt_818, the Guerreros, the line, and the posed shots of Josh and Sabrina, all of which add elements of the show which my pictures totally missed. I'm particularly fond of the shot of the line of kids all the way down the block to see the teacher (oh yeah, and Weezer too. :-) This was the biggest and one of the best 3GT shows ever. I've seen them play to as many people before (Kevin O'Connor's Birthday show at the Lab comes to mind), but never when the whole crowd was so focused on watching the show. The Troubadour was so packed you couldn't squeeze any more people in with a crowbar, and the club owner was out there in front with a crowbar tryin'. Sometimes when a crowd is that amped to see a particular band, they get all bent outa shape at the openers, but how could they not like the teacher? :-) The crowd fully got into 3GT's groove, and barring a couple of small technical problems (one with bass and one with drums), the band played a stunning set. After the set, several of the people around me were asking me when the band was playing again, so I know they made some new fans. Enjoy the pix -
