I'm beginning to think I'm not too fond of The Joint for pictures. The
stage is really high. This is great if you're toward the back of the
room and want to see the band, but sucks if you're in the front taking
pictures, as you're shooting into the lights. With my camera, that means
it's hard to get a focus lock, so it usually takes the picture 1-2 seconds
after I've actually snapped. To overcome this handicap, I took a ton of
pictures, and a few of them turned out well. This page will be heavily
pruned when I do the resizing and cleanup later. For now, I've split it
into 3 pages, as before, so enjoy (links above to the other two pages).
As for the show, it was much fun, as usual. Sabrina & Laura were sporting new outfits, back in the school uniform theme, and they looked pretty sharp. They played Fear of a Boy, which I haven't seen them play in a long long time, and it sounded great. Sabrina confided afterward that she isn't confident singing it live, but I thought she sounded fine. They also played a new song (not a new-old song, but an actual new-new song). In fact, it's so new that it doesn't have a set title yet, but it sounded pretty cool. Check out the pictures at the bottom of the page that I shot in the mirror. |
